His Grace Archbishop Mark O’Toole, the Archbishop of Cardiff and Bishop of Menevia, visited the Catholic Society (CathSoc) of Aberystwyth University on Tuesday 9th May 2023. The Archbishop celebrated Mass in the University’s Faith Space. During the homily, he recalled the advice he has been given by his university chaplain, and shared some of that wisdom with us who are trying to live out our faith on campus today.
It was the first time that Archbishop Mark had celebrated a Mass in Aberystwyth. A few of the parishioners from the Welsh Martyrs church also joined for the Mass.
After the Mass, there was a Q&A social, during which the CathSoc members got to ask several different questions to the Archbishop. While addressing the questions, the Archbishop shared his experience of being at the Coronation, discerning his vocation, his favourite Saints and an insight into his own university life.
The event was catered by Madeleine and Peter Stocks. CathSoc thanks everyone who came together to make it a blessed occasion, especially the parish priest Fr Matthew Roche-Saunders for his continued support to the society.
