The generosity of the faithful was tested to the hilt as this year´s Christmas Fair held at St. George´s Metropolitan Cathedral Southwark London yielded a massive £7000.
The whole Christmas Fair, which included a number of interesting items like bric a brac, hamper stall, bottle stall, face painting, toys and games, was spearheaded by the Cathedral´s Dean, Rev. Michael Branch. Along with Mr. Patrick Duffy, the Dean conducted the auction, the main attraction of the Fair, with great success.
Apart from the entertainment aspect, the Fair had a variety of Food Stalls encapsulating the diverse communities of the parish with their variety of national dishes on display. There was the Jeloff rice of Nigeria, special food from Venezuela, the Filipino kitchen, Beef stew and rice from Ghana, the Latino Cocino, and also the traditional Sunday Carvery lunch, and the Irish coffee.
An array of delicious cakes were also on display. The Fair drew large crowds from far and wide of Southwark.
