It has been a wonderful end to the year in Chaplaincy at Stonyhurst school.
In our formation programmes, twenty poets have been undergoing the formation programme to become Eucharistic Ministers next year. We wish them all the best in taking up this important role within the Church.
Our altar servers have been recognised for their committed service over the past year by being enrolled into the Guild of St Stephen, the society in the Catholic Church which oversees all servers.
Pupils in our social justice programmes have also continued to serve the community with enthusiasm and great generosity of spirit this term. Our Arrupe pupils have been off-site, assisting in schools for pupils with additional needs, either in the classroom or through the very popular activity of wheelchair dancing! Other pupils have shared tea and cake with the retired residents of Hurst Green.
Our Environmental Society has been working on reviewing internal waste disposal processes with the Bursar and Domestic team. Exciting news to follow on this in September.
Our Faith in Action Bronze and Silver pupils have successfully completed their award levels, with the entirety of Lower Grammar gaining their Bronze and twenty pupils in Grammar and Syntax gaining silver. Congratulations to all involved for your hard work over the year.
Particular congratulations to our Grammar Faith in Action pupils who held a magnificent fundraising event for those affected by the situation in Ukraine. They invited the whole school to attend a charity rounders match of pupils versus staff, with tuck and games stalls to keep the crowds thoroughly entertained throughout. The event was a great success, with the pupils just pipping the staff to victory by one rounder.
The year ended in usual style, with an outdoor Mass of thanksgiving, giving glory to God for all the graces and gifts he has granted the school community over the past year.
